Shelia M. Bhatia, MD

Site Chief, Adult and Family Medicine, Kaiser San Leandro

  • Takes care of adult patients

  • Is a Physician Leader of her group

  • Takes care of the Peer Review cases from her department

  • BAS in Political Science + Biology from Stanford, then Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, with a residency in Internal Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York.

Ellie Griffinger, CNM

Co-Founder, Golden Oak Midwives

  • Holds a private practice as a midwife, delivering babies at Alta Bates Hospital

  • Always down to talk about women's health issues/pregnancy

  • Focused on supporting women in achieving empowered, informed birth experiences, while fostering relationships built on mutual trust.

Rebecca Spies, MD

Medical Director of Cytopathology, Staff Pathologist

  • Private practice pathologist with training in Cytopathology

  • Double major in Biology and Philosophy as an undergraduate at Villanova University, then obtained a masters degree in Social Anthropology at the University of Oxford.

  • Would encourage anyone thinking about medical school to spend time with physicians in the fields to see what different practice settings can be like - the good and the bad!

Leila Hebshi, MD

Staff Anesthesiologist, Kaiser Oakland Medical Center

  • Provides care for patients undergoing many different kinds of surgeries at Kaiser Oakland and Richmond Medical Centers

  • Co-Chair of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee

  • Attended medical school in Ireland

  • Pivoted to Medicine after pursuing a career in Biochemistry

Rachel Kuperman, MD

CEO of Eysz, Inc

  • Entrepreneur

  • Started a company to improve the lives of people with epilepsy using innovated eye tracking technology.

  • Received an undergraduate degree in physics at UCSD, then went to medical school at UCSF and did neurology training at Columbia

  • Believes a college path in Physics and Chemistry allows for flexibility in the future.
